In Foshee, Alabama, a small community in the center of Escambia County, Alabama, this mill was the first sawmill of the Alger-Sullivan Lumber Company. There were many factors, including labor difficulties, causing the new mill to be built 15 or so miles south in Florida, instead of increasing the capacity of this one. This mill shut down for good in 1923.
